Spanish Made Easy - Learn Seasons, Days of the week, Months in Spanish!

Hola amigos!

So in this post, I shall be concentrating on the vocabulary part.

It's very important for you to remember this section so that you can build up on your essays and letter writing vocabulary.

ALWAYS remember. The more the vocabulary & tenses you use for your letters, the better you score. Quantity is overrated.

So let's begin!

In Spanish, the four seasons of the year are:
  • el invierno — winter
  • la primavera — spring
  • el verano — summer
  • el otoño — autumn or fall.

Days Of The Week:

lunes (loo-nays) - Monday

martes  (maar-tays)-Tuesday

miércoles (mee-yer-co-lays) - Wednesday

jueves (Hoo-vay-ves) - Thursday

Viernes (vee-yer-nes) - Friday

sábado (sa-ba-dow) - Saturday

domingo (do-min-go)- Sunday

Points to remember:
  • Days of the week are always masculine.
  • Also, they aren't capitalized.
  • Plural form doesn't change.
  • Verb SER is used to express the day.

Examples:

1. ¿Qué día es hoy?
What day is today?

2. Hoy es lunes.
Today is Monday
.
3. No trabajo el lunes.
I don’t work on Monday.

4. No trabajo los martes.
I don’t work on Tuesdays.

MONTHS IN SPANISH

enero - January

febrero - February

marzo - March

abril - April

mayo - May

junio - June

julio - July

agosto - August

septiembre - September

octubre - October

noviembre - November

diciembre - December

Examples:

1. Vamos a Delhi en mayo

2. Voy a la playa en junio

3. El examen comienza en mayo.

4.  ¿Qué día es hoy? (What's the date today?)

Hoy es lunes, el primer día de mayo. (Today is Monday, the first day of May.)
Note that here, we can also speak in cardinal numbers which I've mentioned above.

Alternatively, you could also say " Hoy es el cinco de mayo" (Today is the 5th of May)

POINTS TO REMEMBER:

1. Again over here, just like the days of the week, the months aren't capitalized.
2. To express in months, we use "en" (in)
